Error "Tableau Cloud Sync Client has stopped working" When Clicking "Run Continuously" in the Tableau Cloud Sync Client

The Tableau Cloud Sync Client fails with the following message after the computer is restarted:

"Tableau Cloud Sync Client has stopped working."
Additionally, when switching Tableau Bridge from application mode to service mode, the following error might occur:

"Failed to start the Tableau Bridge service. Please check your installation."

  • Tableau Cloud
  • "My Tableau Repository" is saved in a different location than default (such as a shared network drive or another drive on the computer where Tableau Desktop is installed)
  • Tableau Cloud Sync Client (Tableau Bridge)
  • Windows

To resolve this issue, ensure Tableau Desktop is using the default 'My Tableau Repository' location (C:\Users\<USER>\Documents\My Tableau Repository)
  1. Open Tableau Desktop.
  2. Click File, then Repository Location...
  3. Navigate to the default folder 'C:\Users\<USER>\Documents\My Tableau Repository'
  4. Click Select Folder.
For more information, see Changing the Repository Location in Tableau Help.

Tableau Cloud Sync Client leverages the default Tableau Desktop repository location to operate successfully. Therefore, the ability to use the Tableau Cloud sync client with a My Tableau Repository saved in a non-default location is not currently built into the product.
