Error "Session is expired or outdated" When Trying to Login to Tableau Cloud

When trying to login to Tableau Cloud (using SAML Authentication) the following error message might occur:

"Session is expired or outdated. Log out of your user accounts and log back in"


  • Tableau Cloud
  • Tableau Desktop
  • User using SAML Authentication to login


Try one of the following options:
  • Clear browser cache and cookies and try to login again.
  • Alternatively try to login to Tableau Cloud using a different browser.
If the issue is occurring in Tableau Desktop, try removing all of your existing server connections by clicking Help > Settings and performance > Clear saved server sign-ins.
