Error "Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates" When Connecting to Presto

After replacing the SSL certificate on a Presto database server, the following error may occur when connecting to the database:

Unable to connect to the ODBC Data Source. Check that the necessary drivers are installed and that the connection properties are valid.
[Simba][Presto] (1020) Error with HTTP API at https://
<server address>:9443/v1/statement : Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with given CA certificates
Unable to connect to the server "https://
<server address>". Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.


  • Tableau Desktop or Tableau Server
  • Windows
  • Presto


Work with your IT team to replace the cacerts.pem file in the lib sub-folder of the Simba Presto ODBC Driver installation folder with the cacerts.pem from the Presto database server.


The SSL certificate used by Tableau to make the connection does not match the new SSL certificate on the database server machine.
