Issue

When connecting to Snowflake and encountering errors such as custom SQL with syntax errors, the error message may be garbled only on specific user machines.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Windows 10

Resolution

The language setting of Snowsight user profile may be affected.
Snowsight is the Snowflake web interface.

1.On the user menu in the Snowsight, select Profile.
2.Check the language setting.
3.If the language is set to a language other than English, change it to English.

Cause

Snowsight's language setting is set to Japanese.
