Issue

When refreshing a MS SQL Server extract that use Windows Authentication from Tableau Bridge, the following error may occur:

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver 17 for SQL Server][SQL Server]Login failed. The login is from an untrusted domain and cannot be used with Integrated authentication.

Environment

  • Tableau Cloud
  • MS SQL Server
  • Windows Authentication

Resolution

Option 1
Work with your internal IT team to ensure that the Windows machine and user signed in to the machine hosting Tableau Bridge has access to the domain that the database is on.

Option 2
Try using Username/Password for the authentication type in Tableau Desktop. Then try republishing the MS SQL Server data source to Tableau Cloud and test to ensure the refresh is successful in Tableau Bridge when using Username/Password.

Cause

The computer on which you run Tableau Bridge must be on the same Windows domain and have access to the underlying database specified in the published data source. See the "System and configuration requirements" section in Expand Data Freshness Options by Using Tableau Bridge for more information.
