When attempting to load a published view which connects to a hyper extract, the following error might occur:
TableauException: Logical Query tree has [x] nodes, maximum number allowed is 500000. For extract data sources, try optimizing the extract and republishing:

  • Tableau Online
  • Tableau Server 10.5
  • Tableau Desktop: 10.5.0 - 10.5.2
  • Tableau Bridge 10.5.0 - 10.5.2

Try one of the below workaround options:

Option 1

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop and/or Tableau Server 10.5.3. For more information, see Upgrading Tableau Desktop and Upgrading Tableau Server in Tableau Help.

Option 2

Optimize the extract and republish the data source or workbook to Tableau Online. See Optimize Extracts and Extract Your Data for more information.

Option 3

If using embedded extracts, publish the affected data sources to Tableau Online. See Publish a Data Source for more information.

This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 731436) which has been fixed in a recent release of Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server.
