Error: "[iODBC][Driver Manager]dlopen({}, 6): image not found" When Attempting to Connect to Amazon Redshift

After installing the correct and latest drivers, you are unable to connect to Amazon Redshift in Tableau Desktop and the following error occurs: 
[iODBC][Driver Manager]dlopen({<path>}, 6): image not found
[iODBC][Driver Manager]Specified driver could not be loaded
Unable to connect to the server "<server name>".
Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.


  • Tableau Desktop 10.0.0
  • Mac OS
  • Amazon Redshift


  1. Ensure all folders in the file path (listed in the error) exist.
  2. Manually create the missing folder(s). 
  3. Place the driver files in this new folder.
  4. Attempt to connect again.


A folder may be missing where Tableau is attempting to read the drivers from.
