Error "INVALID_LOGIN: Invalid username, password, security token; or user locked out" Connecting to Salesforce
Published: 07 Nov 2013 Last Modified Date: 25 Apr 2016
When connecting to Salesforce, the following error might occur:
INVALID_LOGIN: Invalid username, password, security token; or user locked out.
Work with your Salesforce administrator to ensure that all of the following are enabled on the company account, as well as the user profile for all affected users:
SOAP API for logging on.
REST API for getting meta data.
BULK API for downloading objects.
REST API for downloading objects that the BULK API does not support.
Replication SOAP APIs for retrieving changes in the data.
Some Salesforce security policies require a security token in addition to a password if logging in from a computer with an IP address that is not listed in a trusted range by the Salesforce administrator. If logging in with just a password, an error message requesting a security token might occur. The requested token must be appended to the end of the password.
Salesforce user records can be locked if a user has too many unsuccessful login attempts. To verify, navigate to the user details page in Salesforce and check the login history.
