Error "Your request could not be completed because the FlexNet Licensing Service could not process a response."

Issue

When you try to activate offline, the following error might appear in the command line:

        Your request could not be completed because the FlexNet Licensing Service could not process a response. Try reinstalling Tableau Desktop or Tableau Server.
 
*** com.tableausoftware.license.dll.ActivationException: Function flxActSvrActivationRespProcess returned error (50019, 42107, 10246)

Environment

Tableau Server

Resolution

Option 1

Verify that the correct path and file name is being used when running the "tabadmin activate" command.


Option 2

On a new Tableau Server, often a second offline file needs to be created and processed.  Be sure to only run the activation.tlf file from our website one time.  It is machine specific and one-time use only.  


Option 3

Verify the FlexNet Licensing service is running, see Verify Tableau Service


Option 4

Create a new activation file from manage product keys (offline.tlq).  For more information, see Activating Tableau Offline.

Cause

The error could be caused by the following reasons: 
  • The activation.tlf file is a one time use file and machine specific.  Do not try to use the activation.tlf file multiple times or on a different machine.
  • The FlexNet Licensing service is not running.
  • The path to the activation.tlf file is not correct when running tabadmin.
  • The wrong activation.tlf is being run when a second pass offline actvation is needed.
