Error "ERROR: flxActCommonLicSpcPopulateAllFromTS (50030,71521,10121)" Activating

Issue

When attempting to activate Tableau Desktop on a Mac, some of the following errors might occur:

  • The licensing service was installed. Please retry the operation.
  • ERROR: flxActCommonLicSpcPopulateAllFromTS (50030,71521,10121)
  • Error "(50030, 71521, 10121) LM_TS_LOAD"

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Mac

Resolution

For Tableau Desktop 2019.2 and earlier

Option 1:  

Ensure that the FlexNet service was installed.
  1. In Finder, click Applications.
  2. Control-click Tableau, and then select Show Package Contents.
  3. Double-click Contents, double-click Installers, and then double-click Tableau FLEXNET.pkg.
  4. Follow the instructions in the installation wizard and use the default options.
  5. When the FLEXNet installation completes, restart the computer.

Option 2:

Reinstall Tableau Desktop.

For Tableau Desktop 2019.3 and later

  1. Check the permission of the FNPLicensingService on a Terminal.
    • cd /Library/Application\ Support/FLEXnet\ Publisher/Service/11.16.2
    • ls -l
  2. If the first column of the text displayed reads -rwxr-xr-x, the FNPLicensingService does not have sufficient permissions to successfully activate Tableau Desktop.
  3. Run the following command:
    • sudo chmod 4755 /Library/Application\ Support/FLEXNet\ Publisher/Service/11.16.2/FNPLicensingService
  4. Start Tableau Desktop and activate.

Cause

The FlexNet service was not properly installed or does not have sufficient permissions to successfully activate Tableau Desktop.
