Error "The custom geocoding data source ... contains errors"

When opening Tableau Desktop, the following error might occur:

The custom geocoding data source \\<networkName>\users\<userName>\My Documents\My Tableau Repository\Local Data\fileName.tds contains errors: 
Unable to connect to this extract because it is on a network file system. 
Firebird database error 335544721: Unable to complete network request to host "<networkName>". 
Failed to establish a connection. 
The system cannot find the path specified. 
Unable to connect to the file "\\\<networkName>\users\<userName>\My Documents\My Tableau Repository\Local Data\fileName.tds". Check that the file exists and that you have sufficient access privileges for it.

Ensure that the Tableau Repository is on the local computer: 
  1. Right-click the My Tableau Repository folder on the network drive and select Copy.
  2. Navigate to a folder on the computer running Tableau Desktop. 
  3. Right-click an empty space in the folder and select Paste.
  4. Open Tableau Desktop and navigate to  File > Repository Location.
  5. Select the new repository folder and click OK.
  6. Close and reopen Tableau Desktop.
Note: To verify the location of the My Tableau Repository folder, navigate to File > Repository Location... in Tableau Desktop. 


The Tableau Repository was located on a network drive.
