Error Code ACF37E18 When Connecting Tableau Desktop to Tableau Server

Issue

When connecting Tableau Desktop to Tableau Server, the following error may occur:

Unable to complete action
Cannot connect to Tableau Server. Please check the server name and port and try again
Error Code: ACF37E18
Operation timed out.

Resolution

Try the following options:

Option 1 - Configure Tableau Desktop to use the embedded browser when signing in to Tableau Server

Option 2 - Add the Tableau Server URL to the Trusted Sites zone on the Tableau Desktop computer

1. Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Internet Options.
2. Select the Security tab.
3. Select 'Trusted sites' > Sites.
4. In the 'Add this Web site to the zone' box, enter the URL of the Tableau Server instance that you trust, and then click 'Add'.
5. Click 'Close' and 'OK'.
