Issue

When attempting to create an extract or publish a data source that includes a relationship based on a pivoted field, the following error occurs:

"Unable to complete action An error occurred when publishing the workbook. Error Code: 6EA18A9E Internal Error - An unexpected error occurred and the operation could not be completed."

Environment

Tableau Desktop 2020.2.0 - 2020.2.2
Relationship on a pivoted field

Resolution

Upgrade to Tableau Desktop 2020.2.4
or
as a workaround, use a physical join instead of a relationship.

Cause

This is a known issue that is fixed in more recent version of Tableau Desktop.
