Published: 07 Jan 2022 Last Modified Date: 03 Jun 2022
When activating Tableau Server, after entering the product key a license error would occur, number '101' or '100' as follows:
The requested licensing operation failed with error code '101: TABLEAU_ERROR_LICENSING_INTERNAL'
The requested licensing operation failed with error code '100: TABLEAU_ERROR_LICENSING_GENERAL'
Flexera legacy activation
Check the product key in the Tableau Customer Portal to validate the license is current and that it is typed exactly as shown in the Tableau Customer Portal (remember to include the dashes).
Check the time of the OS hosting the Tableau Server to ensure the time is set correctly before activating the product key.
The product key may be at a maximum activation status. Deactivate any prior installations if they are available. Contact Tableau Technical Support if the license has been activated too many times and deactivating previous installations are not possible.
This general activation error can occur for several reasons:
Maximum activated key
Invalid key (no dashes or typed incorrectly)
Incorrect time of the OS hosting the Tableau Server
