After upgrading to Tableau Server and when interacting with a report, you are asked to enter your database credentials. After attempting to edit a connection in Tableau Server, the following error(s) may occur:

[Cloudera][DSI] (20032) Required setting 'UID' is not present in the connection settings.
[Cloudera][ODBC] (11570) Required credential settings are missing: {[UID] [PWD]}.
[Cloudera][ODBC] (10380) Unable to establish a connection with data source. Missing settings: {[PWD] [UID]}

  • Tableau Server
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Cloudera Hadoop Hive

  1. Access the affected workbook on Tableau Server and download it to your local desktop.
  2. Open the local copy of the workbook in Tableau Desktop (having additional instances of Tableau Desktop on your computer will not impact licensing at all).
    • Click OK to continue if a warning mentions that the workbook will be upgraded to a newer version when it is saved.
  3. Save the workbook (it can be the same name or a different one).
  4. Sign in to Tableau Server from Tableau Desktop and re-publish the workbook.
  5. If the workbook name is the same, select Yes when prompted to overwrite.

This behavior is related to a known issue (ID: 654456) that has been fixed in an old version of Tableau Server.
