Embedded Data Source Refresh Jobs Take Longer Than Expected Using Tableau Bridge

Last Modified Date: 27 Dec 2023

Issue

Tableau Bridge refresh jobs using embedded data sources take longer than expected to refresh.

Environment

  • Tableau Bridge
  • Tableau Cloud
  • Embedded Data Sources

Resolution

To workaround the issue, publish the data source separately from the workbook and refresh the published data source instead of the workbook. See Publish a Data Source and Set up a schedule for more information.

Cause

Embedded extracts refreshed using Tableau Bridge utilize live queries, and the extract is written on the Tableau Cloud server rather than on the Tableau Bridge client machine.
