Default Number Format Changes Values of Underlying Data or Full Data

When "Default Number Format" is set to Units: Thousands (K) or other similar level, "Underlying Data" (aka "Full Data") is formatted to show only to the thousands even though there is a higher level of specificity available in the raw data. This prevents accurate verification of the aggregated values in the view.

  • Tableau Desktop

Change the number format on the view (Sheet Format) rather than setting the default formatting from the Measure Pane (Default Number Format).

Underlying or Full Data is formatted according to the Default Number Format.

Additional Information

This issue can also be seen with the default format of date fields. If a date field is set to a custom format such as Month/Year, the "Underlying Data" would not show the day even though that data is available.
