Day Prior's Date Displayed in Tableau Desktop When Connecting to Amazon Athena

Published: 24 Aug 2017
Last Modified Date: 15 Sep 2017

When Tableau Desktop is used on a computer utilizing certain time zones (e.g. JST, Baghdad, Fiji, Sydney, Seoul) and connected to Amazon Athena, the date information of Date data type is displayed as one day prior to the date stored in the data source.

  • Tableau Desktop 10.3.1, 10.3.2
  • Amazon Athena

As a workaround, please use the Date and Time data type instead of Date. For more information, see the online Help article for Data Types.

This behavior is related to a known issue with ID 684410 that will be fixed in a future release.

Additional Information

This issue does not occur if a computer is using another time zone (such as Pacific, HST, Central, Eastern, London).
