When exporting a dashboard in .png or .pdf format, the date range slider is replaced with "Non-null Values" or "All Values", depending on if the Special filter is set to "All dates" or "non-null dates".

  • Tableau Server

As a possible workaround for the "Non-Null Values" text, use a calculated field rather than the Special filter to remove null date values. The below steps can be viewed in the attached workbook NullDates_Filter.twbx (using Sample Superstore).
  1. Create a calculated field named "Remove Null Order Dates".
    1. In the calculation pane enter a formula similar to: ISNULL([Order Date])
    2. Click Ok
  2. Drag this pill to the Filters card.
    1. In the pop-up Edit Filter window, select "False" only and select Ok
    2. All null dates should now be removed from the view.
  3. Drag the Order dates pill to the Filter card.
  4. Right-click the pill and select "Show filter".
  5. Display this worksheet in a Dashboard and export the view in .png format. The date range will now display as expected.
Note: In order to avoid the "All Values" text, when editing the filter, do not toggle between "All dates" and "Non-null Dates" in the Special tab. Doing this causes the date range to be replaced with text when exported. If left alone, the date range will display as expected.

This behavior is by design.
