Environment

  • Excel

Resolution

Verify the format used for dates in Excel cells and change the format from (Date/Type: *2012/03/14) to (Date/Type: 2012/03/14) without an asterisk and connect to the Excel file to Tableau Desktop again.
※In the Japanese Excel version, Change the Excel Format Cells (ユーザー定義/種類:yyyy"年"m"月"d"日") to the format (日付/種類:2012年3月14日)

Cause

This is due to date format design in Excel. Date and time formats that begin with an asterisk (*) respond to changes in regional date and time settings that are specified in Control Panel. Formats without an asterisk are not affected by Control Panel settings.
