Issue

After refreshing a data source published to Tableau Server, date and time data might be transposed from a DD/MM/YY format to a MM/DD/YY format.

Environment

  • Tableau Server
  • Tableau Desktop

Resolution

There are several ways to resolve this problem.
  • Set the workbook locale to a specific locale (default is "Automatic") in Tableau Desktop and republish.
    • Under File->Workbook Locale, change setting.
  • For manual refreshes, set the locale in the User Profile settings in Tableau Server:
  1. Click the account icon in the upper right.
  2. Click "My Account Preferences".
  3. Change the Locale.
  • For scheduled refreshes, set the locale in the Tableau Server settings:
  1. If multiple sites are used, ensure "Manage All Sites" is selected.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Scroll down to the locale settings and change the locale.

Cause

Workbook has a setting of Automatic, and can be changed depending on other locale settings.
