Issue

When using a Tableau Server data source that contain a relationship as an inputs for Tableau Prep Builder, the following error may occur:

System error: Unable to run input step: Failure loading Data Source: This Tableau Server data source contains a data model that is not compatible with your version of Tableau client software.

Environment

Tableau Prep Builder
Multiple Logical Tables (Relationship)

Resolution

As a potential workaround, modify the published data source to use Joins instead of Relationships. More info on the differences between Joins and Relationships can be found here.

Cause

Tableau Server data sources that contain relationships are currently not supported as inputs for Tableau Prep Builder.
