Could Not Publish Tableau Prep Flow Using the Command Line After Enabling MFA in Tableau Cloud

Issue

After enabling MFA in Tableau Cloud user is not able to publish flows using the command line with a credentials JSON file and the following error message appears:
 
"Updated the connections with supplied credentials.
Established input connections with remote data sources.
No server connections detected in input connections.
Starting to establish a server connection for publishing extract.
No server connections detected in input connections."

Environment

  • Tableau Prep Builder

Resolution

Currently Tableau Prep CLI does not support Tableau MFA. Keep using the account without enabling MFA when publishing flows from the command line.

Cause

Currently Tableau Prep Command Line Interface (CLI) only supports username and password authentication for Tableau Server and Tableau Cloud.
