Color Applied to Dashboard Text Buttons Are Not Applied When no Target is Selected

Issue

When editing a button, if the value none under the option Navigate to is selected, font, border and background colour are not applied.

Environment

Tableau Desktop

Resolution

Since the button is disabled, to achieve the desired result, a text box can be used instead of disabled-buttons.

Cause

This behavior is by design. When a text or image button is disabled (defined as no navigation target), a color formatting can be applied but the button remains monochromatic to convey the disable state. Otherwise, a button would appear formatted and enabled when it was not.
