When trying to sign in to an SSL-enabled Tableau Server from Tableau Prep Builder, the Tableau Server Sign In dialog is blank.

  • Tableau Server

To troubleshoot this issue, ensure that the Tableau Server instance is not using an SHA-1 certificate:
  1. In a web browser on the computer running Tableau Prep Builder, go to your Tableau Server instance.
  2. Click the information "i" symbol or padlock icon next to the address bar.
  3. If you are using Google Chrome, click 'Certificate'. If you are using Internet Explorer, click 'View certificates'.
  4. Select the Details tab and check the value for the 'Signature hash algorithm' field. It should not be 'sha1', since this would mean that an SHA-1 SSL certificate is used.
  5. If an SHA-1 SSL certificate is currently being used with Tableau Server, work with your IT team to acquire an SHA-2 SSL certificate and configure Tableau Server to use this SSL certificate instead.

The use of an SHA-1 SSL certificate with Tableau Server when connecting Tableau Prep Builder to the Tableau Server instance is not supported.
