After Upgrading Tableau Server to 2021.4, Prep Conductor Flows Using DataBricks Are Failing to Run

Databricks data sources are failing due to authentication errors in published Prep flows after upgrade to 2021.4.

  • Tableau Server upgraded to 2021.4 from an earlier version.

  1. Open Web Authoring for the flow that is failing.
  2. Update the credentials for the inputs that are failing.
  3. Save the flow.
  4. Once the changes have been made, re-run the flow and check to see if the authentication issues are resolved.

Starting in Tableau Server 2021.4, the authentication connector for DataBricks was adjusted along with a change in Tableau Prep. If flows are published with a version of Prep (ex: 2021.1) that use the older connector, authentications on flows published to Tableau Server will fail with the embedded credentials.
