Vizportal-Grpc-Request Logs Getting Too Large From Excessive Getdatasource Polling Calls

Issue

Tableau Server disk space filling up from vizportal-grpc-request logs. These are filled with only three types of GetDatasource polling calls: 

  • grpc-default-executor-758 authentication: INFO com.tableau.grpc.interceptors.logging.RequestTraceServerInterceptor - No request trace information was received. Generating new global request id.
  • grpc-default-executor-717 authentication: INFO com.tableau.grpc.interceptors.logging.RequestTraceServerInterceptor - Received ListDatasourceEvents request with no parent id
  • grpc-default-executor-758 authentication: INFO com.tableau.grpc.interceptors.logging.RequestTraceServerInterceptor - Received GetDatasource request with no parent id

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2019.1.x
  • Windows Server

Resolution

Upgrade to Tableau Server 2019.2 

Cause

This is a known issue with excessive GetDatasource polling calls that is fixed in 2019.2 or later.
