Issue

When using Tableau Desktop with a dual display setup, the text may overlap with itself in the calculation editor.
(the issue is more likely to occur on dual display environment, but may also occur on single display environment)

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Windows 10

Resolution

If using a single display, set DPI scaling to 100%:
  1. Right-click anywhere on your Windows desktop > Display settings.
  2. In the Display dialog, under 'Select and rearrange displays', select the display, and scroll down to the 'Scale and layout' section to set the scaling setting to 100%
  3. Sign out of Windows, and then sign back in.
If using multiple displays, ensure that both displays have the same DPI scaling configured:
  1. Right-click anywhere on your Windows desktop > Display settings.
  2. In the Display dialog, under 'Select and rearrange displays', select one of the displays, and scroll down to the 'Scale and layout' section to check the scaling setting (e.g. "150%").
  3. Select the other display, scroll down to the 'Scale and layout' section and select the same scaling setting as the first display.
  4. Sign out of Windows, and then sign back in.

Cause

The DPI scale setting is set over 100% size or the two displays have different DPI scaling settings.
