Issue

After upgrading to Tableau Server 2021.1, the background color of tables on published workbook changed causing some text to become unreadable.

Environment

  • Tableau Online
  • Tableau Public
  • Tableau Server 2021.1

Resolution

Potential workarounds:

1. Turn off banding on the affected sheet.
a. Open workbook in Tableau Desktop.
b. Under the "Format" top menu, choose Shading.
c. This will open up the "Format Shading" menu on the sidebar.
d. Under Row Banding and Column Banding, change Pane and Header to None.
e. Move the Band Size bar to '0' (all the way to the left).
f. Repeat steps for Sheet, Rows, and Columns tabs.
g. Republish workbook with the changes.

2. Force server-side rendering on a per-session basis by appending ?:render=false to the end of the dashboard URL. For more information, see Disable Client-Side Rendering.
