"Reconnect to" Dialog When Creating Impala Extract

Issue

When trying to create a large extract of an Impala data source (or one that involves a complex custom SQL query), a "Reconnect to" dialog may appear, and the extract is not created.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Cloudera Hadoop Impala ODBC Driver version 2.5.44 and newer

Resolution

Configure the SocketTimeout option to 0 (meaning unlimited) or a higher value using a TDC file to allow for the query to be completed.

Additional Information

The default SocketTimeout value changed from 0 to 30 in the Cloudera Impala ODBC driver version 2.5.44.
