Unable to Install RMT Server on Ubuntu 18.04

Issue

RMT installation fails on Ubuntu machine when the hostname string is more than the acceptable character limits.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2022.3.0
  • Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

Resolution

1. Shorten the hostname or rename the hostname to smaller values.
2. Uninstall, obliterate RMT master installation.
3. Reboot the Ubuntu machine.
4. Verify the hostname by hostname -f or by listing the /etc/hosts file.
5. Reinstall the RMT installation packages.
