Issue

When running a flow that uses published data sources or simply attempting to run a published flow, the following error is returned: Failed to connect to input connection “”.

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2020.2
  • Tableau Prep Conductor
  • Windows 10
  • Tableau Data Engine

Resolution

Option 1

Check that the appropriate database drivers are installed on each Tableau Server node where needed.

Option 2

See local networking settings needed with respect to either proxies or load balancers that are present.

If applicable for the environment, use TSM to enter:

tsm configuration set -k gateway.public.host -v "<URL used to access Tableau Server in a browser and without https>"
tsm configuration set -k gateway.public.port -v 443
tsm configuration set -k gateway.trusted -v "<server_ip_address>"
tsm configuration set -k gateway.trusted_hosts -v "<name1, name2, name3>"
tsm pending-changes apply

Cause

This may be related to a network misconfiguration in an environment where proxy server and/or load balancer is used.
