Issue

Backup fails at disk estimation stage with error:

2020-03-28 08:07:11.210 +0900 pool-14-thread-1 : ERROR com.tableausoftware.tabadmin.webapp.asyncjobs.JobStepRunner - Running step EstimateRequiredSpace failed
java.lang.RuntimeException: java.lang.RuntimeException: BackupRestoreException(message:org.hibernate.exception.GenericJDBCException: could not inspect JDBC autocommit mode)

Environment

Tableau Server
Distributed Environment

Resolution

Option 1
Upgrade to Tableau Server 2019.4.5 or 2020.1.2 (or later versions).

Option 2
If you are unable to upgrade Tableau Server in short-term, run the backup job while Tableau Server is running.
