Question

Can I use my Tableau Desktop license to install Tableau Desktop on my second computer?

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • LBLM
  • Flexera

Answer

Tableau Desktop is licensed per user. For each Tableau Desktop license, you may install and activate one copy of Tableau Desktop on your primary computer and a second copy on your secondary portable or home computer.

Additional Information

If you are using your Tableau Desktop license on two computers, both can remain activated simultaneously. It is only necessary to deactivate a product key if you need to move one of your copies to another computer. For more information, see Move or Deactivate Tableau Desktop.

You can install multiple major versions of Tableau Desktop on the same computer. For example, if you need to share workbooks with a colleague who uses Tableau Desktop 2021.4, but you want to try out features of Tableau Desktop 2022.1, you may have both versions installed on the same computer and this counts as one copy for licensing purposes.

LBLM monitors the individual's computer usage and does not require or allow a deactivation.
