Question

How to specify the port range when initializing Tableau Server on Linux.

Environment

Tableau Server on Linux

Answer

Specify the lower port bound and the upper port bound by using the following option when running the initialize-tsm script.
-l : Lower port bound for automatic selection
-r : Upper port bound for automatic selection

For example, to limit the range of ports between 8300 and 8600, the initialize-tsm script would be run like this:

cd /opt/tableau/tableau_server/packages/scripts.<version_code>
sudo ./initialize-tsm --accepteula -l 8300 -r 8600
