Question
How to get Tableau Desktop to read TDS (data source) files as Custom geocoding.
Environment
Tableau Desktop 2020.4.0
Windows 10
Answer
Tableau Desktop only shows the option to import CSV as Custom Geocoding but once the folder is created at the right place Tableau also reads TDS (Data Source) files. To resolve this create "Geocoding Data" folder under "My Tableau Repository" and place the TDS files inside. In the next time Tableau Desktop is launched it will read the content in it
Examples of folder locations based on the Windows language.
English "My Tableau Repository\Geocoding Data"
French, "Mon dossier Tableau\Données de géocodage".
