Question

How to call SAP HANA Stored Procedure within Tableau Desktop

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • SAP HANA

Answer

When you connect to a SAP Sybase ASE, Microsoft SQL Server, or Teradata database with Tableau, you can use a stored procedure to define the connection.
But when connect Tableau Desktop to SAP HANA, stored procedures are not visible in data source panel.

As a workaround,  specify an initial SQL command that will run when a connection is made to the database, for example, when you open the workbook, refresh an extract, sign in to Tableau Server, or publish to Tableau Server.  You may call the stored procedure within Initial SQL. For example, CALL <proc_name> ( <param_list> )
