How to draw a separator line on a specific measure column in a Crosstab.
The following steps are demonstrated in the attached twbx file.
Create a crosstab. 1. Connect to the Sample-Superstore data. 2. Drag Category to Rows. 3. Drag Sales to Text. 4. Drag Profit and Quantity to the view as follows:
Draw the line. 5. Change the Marks type from Automatic to Bar.
6. Adjust the size to the maximum.
7. Drag Measure Names to Color.
Leave only the separator line. 8. Save the workbook and close Tableau Desktop. 9. Move to the following folder C:\Users\User Name\Documents\My Tableau Repository 10. Open the "Preferences.tps" file with a text editor. 11. Add the the following to the file between the "<workbook></workbook> tags: <preferences> <color-palette name="Transparent" type="regular"> <color>#FFFFFF00</color> </color-palette> </preferences> 12. Open the workbook previously saved. 13. Click on the legend and select Edit Colors. 14. In the drop-down menu, select Transparent. 15. Set Profit and Quantity to Transparent.
