The following steps are demonstrated in the attached twbx file.


Step 1

Create a crosstab.
1. Connect to the Sample-Superstore data.
2. Drag Category to Rows.
3. Drag Sales to Text.
4. Drag Profit and Quantity to the view as follows:

Step 2

Draw the line.
5. Change the Marks type from Automatic to Bar.

6. Adjust the size to the maximum.

7. Drag Measure Names to Color.

Step 3

Leave only the separator line.
8. Save the workbook and close Tableau Desktop.
9. Move to the following folder
     C:\Users\User Name\Documents\My Tableau Repository
10. Open the "Preferences.tps" file with a text editor.
11. Add the the following to the file between the "<workbook></workbook> tags:
<preferences>
<color-palette name="Transparent" type="regular">
<color>#FFFFFF00</color>
</color-palette>
</preferences>
12. Open the workbook previously saved.
13. Click on the legend and select Edit Colors.
14. In the drop-down menu, select Transparent.
15. Set Profit and Quantity to Transparent.
