Deselect All Filters On a Dashboard With One Click

Answer

The directions below use the sample data set Superstore. The workbook attached in the right-hand pane demonstrates these directions.
  1. Open a new sheet and name as Bar Chart. 
  2. Click Analysis > Create Calculated Field to create a calculated field named as Clear which includes the following string:

  3. Place Segment to rows, Sales to columns and Clear to detail.
  4. Open a new sheet and name as Text Table.
  5. Place Ship Mode to rows, Sales to text and Clear to detail.
  6. Open a new sheet and name as Reset.
  7. Click Analysis > Create Calculated Field to create a calculated field named as Reset Button which includes the following string:
    "Reset Filters"
  8. Place Reset Button to text and Clear to detail.
  9. Click Format > Shading and select a desired background color in the worksheet drop-down list.
  10. Open a new dashboard, then place the Bar Chart sheet, the Text Table sheet and the Reset sheet to the dashboard.
  11. Click Dashboard > Actions, then click Add Action > Filter.
  12. Create Filter 1 as below and click OK.
    • Source Sheet: Reset
    • Target Sheet: Bar Chart
    • Run action on: Select
    • Clearing the selection will: Exclude all values
    • Target Filters: select Selected Fields and click Add Filter, then set Clear for the source field and Segment for the target field.
  13. Click again Add Action > Filter.
  14. Create Filter 1 as below and click OK.
    • Source Sheet: Reset
    • Target Sheet: Text Table
    • Run action on: Select
    • Clearing the selection will: Exclude all values
    • Target Filters: select Selected Fields and click Add Filter, then set Clear for the source field and Ship Mode for the target field.
  15. Click Reset Filters on the dashboard to generate the action filters.
  16. Click the Bar Chart sheet on the dashboard, then click Analysis > Filters > Action (Segment).
  17. Click the Text Table sheet on the dashboard, then click Analysis > Filters > Action (Ship Mode).
