Question

How to apply a filter only to a single measure in the view. Example: Showing Sales for a selected category and Total sales

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop

Answer

1. Use Fixed calculation for the measure you do not want to be affected by filter. Example: Total Sales would be { Fixed: Sum( Sales) }
2. Use Sum(Sales) as it is for the other measure
3. Use the Category filter. This will filter sum of sales and not the Total Sales
