Errors "Cannot connect to Tableau Server" "Error Code: 9F4C5638" and "Internet Communication error" Connecting or Publishing to Tableau Server

問題

While it is possible to connect to Tableau Server from an Internet browser, the following error may occur when connecting to Tableau Server from Tableau Desktop or publishing content to Tableau Server:

Unable to complete action
Cannot connect to Tableau Server. Please check the server name and port and try again.
Error Code: 9F4C5638
Internet communication error: Couldn't connect to server (<server address>).
or
Internet communication error: SSL per certificate or SSH remote key was not OK (hostname.url.com).
or
Internet communication error: Couldn't resolve host name (servername)

解決方法

Option 1

If using a proxy, the following option will need engagement with the IT team at your organization:

For the proxy exception, verify that only the Tableau Server name is entered in the list of addresses for exception.

For example, instead of:

https://tableau.mycompany.com

enter:

tableau.mycompany.com

Option 2

An issue with the product key activated on Tableau Desktop has caused this issue for some of our non-LBLM users.

Open Tableau Desktop > Help > Manage Product Keys > Select your license > Refresh > Close
Restart Tableau Desktop
Publish or log in to Server

Option 3

Check for additional RootCAs found in the certificate files within Windows, and verify which certificates are the required RootCA with your Network Administrator. A Wireshark or similar trace may be needed to verify which certificate is being affected or missing in the Intermediary or RootCA.

An error can be found in the Tableau Desktop log file (log.txt) such as "CryptoAPI nonfatal certificate verification error: '/C=US/ST=California/L=XXXXX/O=XXXXX/CN=hostname.url.com' error code 1000040"}"

Option 4

Work with the Network team to investigate and correct the DNS server name specified on Tableau Desktop by performing a reverse DNS lookup of the Tableau Server. When the DNS is not correct, the following error will occur from the reverse lookup: ** server can't find IP ADDRESS.in-addr.arpa: NXDOMAIN.

The The NXDOMAIN is a DNS message type received by the DNS resolver (i.e. client) when a request to resolve a domain is sent to the DNS and cannot be resolved to an IP address. An NXDOMAIN error message means that the domain does not exist.

原因

There are several causes for this general Internet communication error. Here are some of the root causes:

Tableau Desktop does not support the inclusion of the protocol in values entered when configuring proxy exceptions.
A new SSL certificate was uploaded.
Desktop product key needed to be refreshed.
The same Root CA Certificate was found in the Intermediate Store and the Root CA Store.
DNS could not be resolved to an IP address although correctly specified in the SSL certificate.
