Error "PowerPivot Add-In Missing"

Problem

When you try to connect to an Excel PowerPivot data source, the following error might occur:

The drivers necessary to connect to this database server are not properly installed. Visit http://www.tableausoftware.com/drivers to download driver setup files.

It appears that you don't have Tableau PowerPivot Add-In (Excel Add-In) installed. Please install Tableau PowerPivot Add-In and try again.

Unable to connect to the server. Check that the server is running and that you have access privileges to the requested database.

Lösung

To resolve this issue, verify that the Tableau PowerPivot Add-in is enabled in Excel.

In Excel, select File > Options > Add-ins.
Verify that the Tableau PowerPivot Connector add-in is enabled.

If the Tableau PowerPivot Add-in is disabled, enable it by following these steps:

In Excel, select File > Options > Add-ins.
In the Manage list, click Disabled Items, and then click Go.
In the dialog box that opens, select Tableau PowerPivot Connector, and then click Enable.

If the Tableau PowerPivot Add-in is enabled and you continue to receive the error, verify that the Tableau PowerPivot Add-in is selected in COM Add-Ins:

In Excel, navigate to File > Options > Add-ins.
In the Manage list, select COM Add-ins, and then click Go.
In the dialog box that opens, select the box next to Tableau Power Pivot Connector, and then click OK.
