The ability to display the items in the filter horizontally is not currently built into Tableau Desktop.Possible workaround:
Follow along in the attached packaged workbook located at the right of this text in the "Attachments" section. The steps described demonstrate how to use another worksheet as a horizontal filter and then create an action filter.Steps:
1. Add the items of a field horizontally in another worksheet that will be used as the filter. See sheet Filter in the attached packaged workbook.
2. Display the two worksheets on a dashboard. See the workaround dashboard in the attached packaged workbook.
3. Add an action filter on the dashboard. Click Dashboard on the toolbar then select Actions... and highlight Filter1 to Edit and configure the action filter as follows:
Final result will have the new action filter horizontally:
