Question

What to do, if you need to download a previous version of Tableau or an update to the previous version. For example, you may have an old workbook that you wish to view in the version of Tableau it was originally created for.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop
  • Tableau Server

Answer

  1. Go to Downloads and Release Notes.
  2. Select your desired product and version.
  3. Click the Download button.
  4. Click the link for your operating system to download Tableau Desktop or Server to your computer.
  5. Follow the prompts during installation.
Please note that some older versions will not be available due to security vulnerabilities identified.

Additional Information

  • To ensure the safety of your data and deployments, Tableau only supports downloading product versions for thirty (30) months after release. Versions older than 30 months have reached their End of Life and are no longer provided. They are also not assessed for potential security issues and do not receive security updates.
  • For information about versions and their end of support dates, please see the Supported Versions section of Technical Support Services.
  • It is possible to have multiple versions of Tableau Desktop installed simultaneously on the same computer. Installing a new version of Tableau Desktop will not overwrite the old version of Tableau Desktop. To remove your current version entirely before installing an older version, see Completely Removing Tableau Desktop
  • Previous versions of tabcmd are available on the same product page as the Tableau Server version you wish to download.
  • Only the most current version of Tableau Reader is available for download.
