Answer
If you are using Tableau Server 2018.2 and later versions on Windows or Linux, follow the guidelines described in Tableau Help:For Tableau Server 2018.1 and earlier versions on Windows
Step 1We recommend that you make a backup of your installation of Tableau Server before beginning the uninstallation process. For more information, see Back Up Tableau Server Data.
Step 2
Uninstall the existing server using the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel. If you have a distributed environment, use Add/remove Programs on your primary machine.
Note: Uninstalling removes the application software, but leaves your data and configuration settings on the machine.
Step 3
Manually delete the versioned Tableau Server directory. The exact location of the directory depends on your operating system and the bitness of your Tableau Server installation.
- 32-bit: C:\Program Files (x86)\Tableau\Tableau Server and C:\ProgramData\Tableau\Tableau Server
- 64-bit: C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server and C:\ProgramData\Tableau\Tableau Server
Important: Deleting this directory removes your existing content so that a new installer does not try to import it into the new server.
Step 4
Manually remove all environment variables that reference Tableau Server or tsm.
