Question

How to publish a file for scheduling tasks in Tableau Prep Conductor?

Environment

  • Tableau Server 2019.1
  • Tableau Prep Conductor

Answer

In Tableau Prep, which from the launch of version 2019.1 is called Tableau Prep Builder, you can publish a data source to Tableau Server or Tableau Cloud using the current desktop tool.

In contrast, with Tableau Prep Conductor enabled, you publish the flow, the instructions for refreshing the data, to the server and schedule that to refresh your data.

With Tableau Prep Conductor, you can now publish flows to Tableau Server the following way:

From Tableau Prep Builder, select Publish Flow from the Server menu, and your flow will be available on Tableau Server where you can run and schedule your flows in a reliable server environment.

For more information, see Publishing a flow to server and Schedule a flow task.
