Question

How to keep doughnut charts at a constant radius when filters are used to change the number of marks on the view.

By default, the doughnut charts will change size based on the number of marks on the view as if the Fit was set to Fit Width. This size changing is not affected by changing the Fit setting.

Environment

  • Tableau Desktop 2018.1.3
  • Dual-axis doughnut charts

Answer

Rotating the labels on the X-Axis will cause the view to be affected by changes to the Fit setting. Then the Fit can be changed to Fit Height or Standard to keep the marks at a constant size:
  1. Right-click on one of the column labels at the bottom of the chart
  2. Select Rotate Labels
  3. Click on the Fit Menu at the top of the screen
  4. Select Standard or Fit Height
