After downloading a workbook or data source from Tableau Server, the filename may change to unfamiliar characters and symbols. This issue occurs when downloading a workbook or data source whose filename contains non-ASCII characters. Each browser has a different way of handling such files, which causes the unfamiliar characters and symbols to display. This issue occurs on Apple Safari, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox browsers.
To resolve this issue, download the workbook or data source using the latest version of Microsoft Internet Explorer. Alternatively, you can continue to use one of the browsers listed above, but rename the file after you have downloaded it.Alternate Search Terms:ascii, browser, save, corrupt, foreign, characters, symbols
