Step 7

In the Command Prompt, type the following command to start Tableau Server: tabadmin start

Step 8

Type the following command to confirm that Tableau Server has restarted: tabadmin status -v

Troubleshooting

Sometimes the upgrade to the licensed version may not complete successfully if Tableau Server was not stopped prior to activating the new product key. One way you can determine whether the upgrade was successful is by referring to the Tableau Server Licenses page. If you see that the number of available Interactors reflects the trial and not the licensed version, the upgrade was unsuccessful. Use the following procedure to complete the upgrade.

Step 1

On the machine running Tableau Server, click Start and then select All Programs > Accessories. Right-click Command Prompt, and select Run as administrator.

Step 2

On the Tableau Server machine, open the Command Prompt as an administrator and change to the Tableau Server bin directory:

cd C:\Program Files\Tableau\Tableau Server\<version>\bin

Note: If you installed 32-bit Tableau Server on a 64-bit operating system, the path will be C:\Program Files (x86)\Tableau\Tableau Server\<version>\bin

Step 3

Type the following command to stop Tableau Server: tabadmin stop

Step 4

Type the following command to start Tableau Server: tabadmin start

Step 5

Type the following command to confirm Tableau Server has restarted: tabadmin status -v
