This article explains how to dynamically update titles in worksheets and dashboards using the example of today's date. The process is different for worksheets and dashboards.
Go to the worksheet you want to modify, or create a new worksheet, and select Analysis > Create Calculated Field.
Name the calculated field Today. In the formula area, type
TODAY() and then click OK.
Drag Today onto Detail, then right-click (Control-click on a Mac) YEAR(Today) and select More > Custom > Detail.
In the Custom dialog box, choose Month /Day /Year.
From the Worksheet menu, choose Show Title.
Right-click the title and choose Edit Title.
In the Edit Title dialog box, select the current or placeholder text, click Insert and choose MDY(Today) from the drop-down list.
The title now shows the current month, day, and year.
Creating dynamic titles in a dashboard is a little trickier because there is no way to reference the Today field. The solution is to use a worksheet to display the title instead of the dashboard's title object.
Create a new worksheet and follow steps 1 - 6 in the Worksheets section.
Name the worksheet Title.
Go to your dashboard or create a new dashboard.
Remove the dashboard's Title object if there is one, and then drag the Title worksheet to the top of the dashboard.
Right-click the Title view and choose Fit > Fit Width. Then drag up the bottom edge of the view so that only the title shows.
